Trip to NYC to visit the Peter Lik gallery in Soho

All I can say is WOW! If you have never see the work from Peter Lik "in person" this is something you need to do....This guy is amazing! I have been following his work for some time now and his Soho gallery finally opened and I couldn't wait to make a visit.

Peter basically came from nothing in Austraila and lived out of his van. He started taking photos when he was 8 years old and became very famous for his work today. Numerous awards and many galleries is what its all about. Lik became the master in landscape photography. His works are not just little prints hanging on a wall, they are very expensive works of art that range in size from somewhat small to 4x8 feet and bigger!! You have to see the photos in person. His work is also amazing because of the was they change colors as the lights in the room dim. check out his link and you will get a better understanding of this self tought legend.

Thanks to Doctor Donna for the trip tonight, (it was an early birthday present for me) A "fast" ride in the droptop Benz, lots of time in the gallery and a great dinner = an awesome night!

Stamford American Little League "Opening Day"

Rain, Rain Go Away!!! Even though the weather completely fell apart today, the turn out was great for the Opening Day ceremonies.... I did not have my cameras with me today as I was helping with the event and it was iffy if the day would even happen with the weather. Matt was able to stop by and snap a few "really wet" photos towards the end and I will post some below and add more when they are done.

The Stamford PD was there with police cars, trucks, the bomb squad tank & motor cycles for the kids to see, touch and get inside. The SPD honor guard raised the American Flag and 3 players said the pledge over the PA as the crowd followed along. The SPD also had that really cool remote control robot that the PD and SWAT uses to go into buildings and see what's going on before officers enter the building and chance getting hurt. I sooo need to get me one of those bad boys!! hehehe.....

One thing I learned today was that rain soaked hot dogs are still just as good as ever. It reminded me of the famous NYC "Dirty Water Dog" what swine flu??

So basically to wrap up the day. cold temps, rain, wet hot dogs and buns, cotton candy, popcorn and mud made for one hell of a day down at the Little League field!

More photos to come.....
